After ruling the box-office for seven weeks, ‘Avatar’ is slipped to second place behind Channing Tatum’s ‘Dear john’. However, Avatar noticed only 27% drop at the eighth weekend.
'Dear John' cut short dream run of Avatar at box office with whooping $32.4 million weekend gross, but not before latter grossed $630.1 million at the end of eighth weekend with weekend gross of $23.6 million. 84% of Dear John audience was women. Third place goes to another new entry Travolta starrer ‘From Paris with love’ with the gross of $8.1 million. Fourth and fifth places are secured by ‘Edge of darkness’ ($7 million) and ‘The tooth fairy’ ($6.5 million) respectively.
With Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Valentine's Day, The Wolfman, 1974, My Name Is Khan, Peter Gaya Kaam Se, and Order of Chaos releasing this Friday, the weekend box-office standings may further be altered.
